Admission Arrangements

We know that choosing a school is a big decision for any parent and that the process of school admissions can be confusing.

We hope that the information provided below, outlines some of the basic details and helps to make the process of transition as smooth and seamless as possible for you. We are here to help you as much as we can. If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact us and ask to speak to our Admissions Officer, Mrs Edwards.

Our arrangements for school admissions are determined by The Good Shepherd Trust. Further information on this process can be found here.

Applying for a place
September Admissions

You should receive information leaflets from your child's nursery or pre-school in the autumn term prior to your child’s admission to YR. If you do not receive one, you can contact Hampshire County Council or by phone: 0300 555 1377.

If your child was born between 1 September 2018 and 31 August 2019 you will need to apply for a school place for September 2023. You can apply between 01 November 2022 and 15 January 2023.

In-Year Admission Arrangements

At Farnborough Grange Nursery and Infant School, we co-ordinate our own in-year admission arrangements. Therefore, if you would like your child to attend our school outside the normal admissions round, you should apply directly to us. Information on how to apply is provided below. Please contact the school if you would like any of this information, including the application form, to be provided in a hard copy format.

To apply:

  • Please complete the in-year admission form that can be found below, below etc. and if applicable, a supplementary information form (SIF). ​Please email your form to adminoffice@farnboroughgrange.hants.sch.uk

  • In addition to the form you should also provide evidence of your address. The following documents are permissible: Council Tax Bill, Signed Tenancy Agreement or Solicitor’s letter confirming completion of purchase AND one of the following – Recent Utility Bill, Benefits Statement, or Bank Statement.

  • If your child is new to the UK, please provide the date they arrived on pg.1 of the form and attach evidence of this. If your child is a British Citizen, please attach evidence of their passport, any visas, and relevant Home Office documentation.

Outcome of the application:

  • You will be notified of the outcome of your application within 10 schools days if possible, but 15 at the latest. If you application is unsuccessful, we will ​provide the reasons for refusal and the process for making an appeal.

  • We will notify the Local Authority of every application and outcome as soon as possible but within 2 working days at the latest.

  • Please note that your child cannot be placed onto a waiting list without making an application.

Admission Appeals

Information on your right and how to appeal a declined admissions application, can be found here

Appeals resulting from in year admission applications will be heard within 30 school days of the appeal being lodged.

Appellants will be given at least 10 clear school days’ notice of the appeal hearing date.

Appellants will be sent a copy of the Trust's case 7 clear working days in advance of the hearing.

If an appellant wishes to submit further evidence which was not included with their initial appeal, it must be received no later than 5pm on the day preceding 3 clear working days before the appeal hearing date.

The Appeal Panel must decide whether any additional evidence or information received after this date may be considered, taking into account its significance and the effect of a possible need to adjourn the hearing.
